Georgia Democratic congressman John Lewis, the youngest speaker at the 1963 March on Washington, makes history as the first sitting member of Congress to write a comic book. He promoted the autobiographical trilogy about the civil rights movement, March, at Comic-Con International in San Diego. He tells the media, “This story is about movement. It’s about people moving from a place of segregation to a place of reconciliation. It shows how people can overcome and build a sense of community.”
The graphic novel chronicles the civil rights icon’s unwavering commitment to nonviolent protest.
