Chicago’s WVON is a leader in providing information. For 50 years, talk radio has benefited from the community radio station led by Melody Spann Cooper and her phenomenal team, along with her husband, Pierre. Their recent “Taste of WVON” neighborhood festival, which was held at Lorraine Dixon Park in the Chatham-Avalon community on Saturday, July 27, offered live performances and entertainment for children and adults, information on healthcare, and a venue for small business owners to showcase their products and services.
Veteran talk show personality Cliff Kelley engaged the crowd while kids enjoyed pony rides, and a variety of food from local chefs, including vegetarian choices and pastries, and fast food giant McDonald’s offered samples from their current menu.
It was a celebration for community building and that’s what WVON is about. Toyota-sponsored gift bags were given out to festival attendees.
Great job on this year’s Taste of WVON and continued success for the future.
Peace
