It was an emotional Wednesday night, for artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah and LL Cool J who were honored at the 2013 “VH1 Do Something Awards.”

The “Do Something Awards,” were originally founded in 1996 by dosomething.org who partnered with VH1 to embrace celebrities and young world-changers, 25 and younger, who’ve had a positive impact on both their local communities and around the world..

Hudson, who was honored as a co-founder of the Julian D. King Foundation, an organization named after her late younger brother, had to fight back tears as Ne-Yo presented her with the award. Her foundation which provides school supplies to children from low-income families was founded in 2011 and has reached over a dozen communities across the nation.

Other notable recipients of the “Do Something Award” were Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kelly Osbourne, Sophia Bush and Patrick Dempsey for their charity work. Take a look at the stars who came out to honor celebrities like Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Osbourne here. – ruthie hawkins
