Like Lady Gaga and Madonna, Pink is a pop diva who always caters to her large LGBT fan base. But just like her other gay-friendly comrades, Pink recently came under fire from critics who blasted her for performing at a recent Australian concert with a gay pride flag. But in true Pink fashion, the rowdy singer fired back at her critics, saying that she has no problem with being hated — or being called a lesbian.
The drama all began this past weekend in Sydney during a stop on the “Truth About Love Tour,” when Pink picked up a rainbow gay pride flag from a fan and began dancing around with it on stage.
Although fans at the show cheered the singer on, some of her Twitter fans and critics weren’t happy with the move and they began tweeting her homophobic messages and calling her a lesbian.
But according to Pink, there’s nothing at all wrong with being called a lesbian. In fact, she says it’s a compliment.
Fun fact:when you twitter me and say “you’re a lesbian” it really doesn’t bother me at all. It’s a compliment. Most of my fav ppl are, so…

I’m sure all of you hate filled humans can come up with something a little worse than that?!? Come on- be creative. You have 140 characters!

During an interview with the Advocate last year, Pink, who has been publicly romantic with both men and women, explained to the magazine that she feels at home with the LGBT community, even though she’s not a lesbian.
“They’ve been the most loyal part of what I do,” she explained. “They’ve been my most loyal friends, to be honest. I’ve had a lot of my gay boys around, but my gay girls are my rootstalk. They’re my honesty in an ocean of bull—-. I should be gay by the way that I look and the way that I am. I just happen to not be. But it just makes perfect and complete sense.”
We applaud Pink for bucking the cultural trend of making terms like “gay,” “homo” and “lesbian” synonymous with something being bad, unworthy or less than. And thankfully she’s not the only singer who’s been showing support to the LGBT community. Check out some other singers who support their gay fan bases below. – nicholas robinson
