Superstar singer Usher‘s son is reportedly recovering well from his near-drowning experience earlier this week. According to reports, five-year old Usher Raymond V is eating, laughing and talking after almost drowning in the family pool and the child could be released from the hospital in only a few days.
Since the accident, Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster has been granted an emergency custody hearing to try to obtain custody of their two boys, which was granted to Usher in 2012.
The singer himself has finally issued a statement regarding his son, thanking everyone for their support and showing his gratitude to the medical specialists that helped save the boy’s life.
“I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock,” the star said in an official statement, published by PEOPLE. “I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews.”
“They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”
Little Usher’s accident was a little over a year after Foster’s nine-year old son Kile died due to injuries sustained after a jet ski accident.
