Lee Daniel’s The Butler wiped the floor with its competition over the Aug. 16-18 weekend, raking in critical acclaim along $25 million to help Oprah Winfrey and Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker take the top spot from its vanquished competition, Kick-Ass 2 and Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs.
Celebrities raved over the film about a longtime White House butler who served multiple presidents beginning at the embryonic stages of the Civil Rights movement during the Dwight D. Eisenhower administration in the 1950’s and continuing through the Ronald Reagan era in the 1980s.
Look at what celebrities have to say about the film.
I was moved by the #TheButler. I think it’s Lee Daniels best film to date. Oprah made me forget she was Oprah. Forest, as always, brilliant.
