Pastor A.J. Aamir bans weave

A Texas Pastor is making headlines today after making a controversial decision to ban hair weaves from his church staff. A.J. Aamir of Resurrecting Faith in Waco, Texas told AmericaPreachers.com that he does not want members of his  leadership team wearing hair extensions and promoting false images.

“Our black women are getting weaves trying to be something and someone they are not. Be real with yourself is all I’m saying” said Pastor Aamir.

According to Pastor Aamir, while he can’t legally ban members of his staff and congregation from wearing weave, he does not approve of the choice of coiffure especially considering some of their limited incomes.

“Long hair don’t care. What kind of mess is that? I don’t want my members so focused on what’s on their heads and not IN their heads” the Pastor told AmericaPreachers.com.

“I lead a church where our members are struggling financially. I mean really struggling. “Yet, a 26 year old mother in my church has a $300 weave on her head. NO. I will not be quiet about this.”

So far Pastor Aamir has been blasted by women who caught wind of his proposed weave ban and took offense to it. Some people have even wondered if Pastor Aamir would consider a ban on wigs and toupees.
