Ariel Castro dies
The man convicted of kidnapping and holding women captive for 10 years has died. Ohio Rehabilitation and Correction officials report that Ariel Castro was found hanging in his prison cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Tuesday. Castro’s body was found around 9:20 p.m.
Officials say that lifesaving measures were performed but he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m.
Prior to committing suicide Castro was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 1,000 years for kidnapping, impregnating and beating Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus.
