Mayor of Hartford, Conn. blasts Dave Chappelle over his reaction to hecklers

Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle had more than a few choice words to say this week about the drunk and belligerent fans who disrupted his recent show in Hartford, Conn., calling them “evil and alcoholics.” However, Chappelle’s blasts were not ignored and the mayor of Hartford recently fired back at Chappelle over his comments and told him to stop whining.

The drama all began earlier this week when Chappelle was recorded talking about abruptly ending his Hartford show after fans heckled him nonstop and he jokingly claimed that he almost hoped that North Korea would drop a bomb on the Connecticut town.

“I don’t want anything bad to happen to the United States,” Chappelle said. “But if North Korea ever drops a nuclear bomb on this country, I swear to God I hope it lands in Hartford, Connecticut.”

“I wanted to pull a reverse Kramer and call them all crackers or something crazy like that,” he added.

Pedro Sagarra

However, Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra didn’t take kindly to Chappelle’s jabs and he tweeted out a diss of his own to the comedian.

Dave Chappelle should quit whining, do his job and try some yoga. #HartfordHasIt P.E.S.

Mayor Segarra also spoke with TMZ and continued to blast Chappelle over his comments.

“His recent remarks were immature and inappropriate,” Segarra said. “[He] should stick to his job, give the fans what they paid for and not disparage the good people of Hartford.”

It’s doubtful that Chappelle really cares about what Segarra thinks but perhaps he’ll use the random beef for material for his next show, which we doubt will be anywhere near Hartford.
