Chris Brown hasn’t at all had a pristine history when it comes to him and the LGBT community. Although the singer has claimed that he embraces and makes music for gay, straight and bisexual fans, he’s been caught many times dropping anti-gay slurs, inciting the ire of many LGBT activists and allies. Now, the singer is turning heads in the LGBT community once again after he recently tweeted words of support of Cameroon’s troubled gay community.
Last month, African gay rights organization AllOut.org created a petition asking Cameroon’s President Paul Biya and other local politicians to stop the numerous anti-gay attacks that have plagued the nation and resulted in the deaths of several LGBT figures like Eric Ohena Lembembe.
This past weekend, Brown shocked fans when he showed tweeted his support of the petition along with a call for peace and acceptance to his fans.
Love is not a crime. Gay or straight. Love who u wanna love. Stop the hate & sign here https://t.co/LAdsuz2iaf #Unity

Brown’s supportive tweet follows another pro-LGBT message Brown made in June when he released his Aaliyah-assisted “Don’t Think They Know” video in conjunction with a new “Unity Campaign” which he claimed he created in an effort to encourage “all races, genders, sexes, (everyone) gay or straight to love each other.”
Well, we hope Brown continues to support his LGBT fans and the LGBT community at large and use his stardom to really make positive changes in the world.
