Adrian Dantley, Crossing Guard: The famously frugal Hall of Fame NBA star — some would say extremely cheap — has lived well and quietly in retirement. But he was bored, and he didn’t want to pay health insurance. So he killed two birds with one stone.

Dantley decided to become part-time crossing guard in his hometown of Washington D.C. (Montgomery County, Md.) for a local elementary school, earning a mere $14,000 a year. But, he no longer has to pay $15,000 a year in health insurance premiums.
