The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Willie Lynch tweet
Early Wednesday TheAtlanta Journal-Constitution posted a tweet about a Powder Springs, Ga., man who won a hefty sum from the lottery. The paper noted that the man was named Willie Lynch, like the 18th century slave master, and he can [now] “get 40 acres and a whole lotta mules” — a reference to slavery reparations.
The AJC has since issued an apology and deleted the tweet.
Twitter has since blasted the paper’s social media department for being “stupid” and “racist.”
Wow. I know you like to tweet provocatively, but that was just stupid @ajc. Keep it classy, South.

Bigots and racists always reveal themselves. Some do it to set off a bar fight, others do it on the @ajc‘s Twitter account. — Thad Ochocinco (@ThadOchocinco) October 23, 2013
