Are Prince’s new song lyrics anti-bisexual?

Prince - Biphobic Cover

Prince was once music’s leading champion when it came to blurring the lines of gender, sexuality and praising the idea of hitting the sheets with whomever you like. But recently the pioneering Purple One has come under fire from angry LGBT fans who claim that his new song, “Da Bourgeoisie,” contains anti-bisexual lyrics.

According to NewNowNext, who is now the lead singer of the band 3RDEYEGIRL, tweeted a link for the new song yesterday. When some fans listened to the lyrics they were left wondering if Prince was bashing his fictional female lover for liking women as well as men.

“Yesterday I saw you kickin’ it with another girl
You was all wrapped up around her waist
Last time I checked, you said you left the dirty world
Well it appears that wasn’t the case

Hey, I see you undercover like the CIA
Snatching little wigs from another bouquet – that’s French
I guess a man’s only good for a rainy day
Maybe you’re just another bearded lady at the cabaret

I wish I never kissed your (spits) ugh
Doesn’t replace the memory”

This isn’t the first time Prince has come under fire for saying something allegedly anti-LGBT. IN a 2008 interview with The New Yorker, Prince spoke out against marriage equality, saying,

“God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’”

Well, we don’t agree with his thoughts on marriage equality, but when it comes to his lyrics, it seems more like the typical, vengeful words of a bitter and scorned lover than an anti-LGBT homophobe. But he’s not the only one to offend the LGBT community with lyrics. Check out some other artists that have done the same below. – nicholas robinson
