R&B singer-songwriter Mario arrived in Detroit on Nov. 4 to support the Salvation Army and FM radio 98.9 WJLB charity event “Coats for Kids.” The event was held at the Michigan Science Center and was a very exciting day for children in Detroit. Mario is no stranger to the “Coats for Kids” event as he has supported the event previously, most recently in 2009.
The children were absolutely elated to have Mario in attendance. The crooner showed lots of love that day as he made himself available to children for personal pictures and autographed cell-phones and t-shirts. The kids were in for a real surprise when they begged Mario to sing to them and he willingly obliged. Mario performed his latest single featuring female rap star Nicki Minaj titled “Somebody Else” followed by his 2004 hit single “Let Me Love You.”
Mario stayed to take group photos with children after his performance and also serenaded a crying infant to calm her for the photo. His sweet voice must’ve been soothing for the baby because she stopped crying. It was a sweet gesture and a wonderful time for kids in Detroit.
