Lil Mama has had a very positive year, capped off last week with her performing alongside T-Boz and Chilli of TLC during the 2013 American Music Awards. The rapper-turned-actress earned raves for her performance as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in VH1’s TLC biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story when the film debuted on television last month. But it appears that the starlet is now being taken to task by a former attorney who says that she owes him money.
The lawyer took the Harlem rapper to court, and now Lil Mama has been ordered to pay $18,000 for money owed, interest, and other fees.
TMZ reports that the lawyer worked for Lil Mama as recently as 2011, but he was not paid from 2008 to 2011. Reportedly, part of the attorney’s responsibilities was protecting her stage name. The judge ruled in the lawyer’s favor.
Neither Lil Mama nor her representatives have addressed the lawsuit or the judge’s ruling publicly.
Earlier this week, some TLC fans complained about her AMA performance, feeling that she was attempting to “replace” Lopes as an actual member of TLC.
