Things between Kandi Burruss and her mother, Mama Joyce, have been spinning out of control ever since the new season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” began and fans witnesses Joyce mercilessly bashing her daughter’s fiancé, Todd Tucker. Things hit an all-time low this weekend when Burruss cried on “Watch What Happens Live” and revealed that her mother is no longer speaking to her because of all the negative press she’s been getting over the show. Now, Joyce is finally speaking out about the controversy and saying she’s done with both Tucker and her daughter’s wedding.
“I’m out of it. Whatever Kandi does, it is completely her decision now. I wish her well. I just hope that this is the right choice for her,” Joyce said in a new interview with RadarOnline.
Joyce explained that she lost sleep after she learned that Tucker and her daughter are engaged and with the added negativity of fans criticizing her from left and right, she’s decided to back down and leave Burruss to her own wits.
“They have worn me down to the point where it has made me sick. I just don’t feel like Todd is the right choice. I think he’s manipulative … I’ve tried to shield my child, but I’m tired. I’m over it. I pray to God I’m wrong about him,” Joyce said.
“If Kandi is happy, I’m happy. At the end of the day, she’s the one who will have to deal with him not me,” she confessed, adding that to her knowledge Kandi and Todd still haven’t set a wedding date.
Joyce also talked about her recent onscreen fight with Burruss best friend, Carmon, who she tried to attack after accusing the woman of sleeping with Tucker and being a jealous friend.
“This was my daughter’s wedding dress fitting. If Carmon was the friend and ‘daughter’ that she always wanted to be, she should have gotten up and left when I asked her,” Joyce said.
“A lot of people who worked for Kandi and I have told me that Todd and Carmon were acting like much more than friends around the house. They may have squashed the relationship for now, but I truly believe they were doing things behind Kandi’s back at one point,” Joyce confessed.
Joyce says she’s talked with her daughter about the Todd’s alleged cheating but she says she’s washing her hands of the situation.
