Happy 39th birthday, Mos Def! Born Dante Smith, he is a rapper, actor, and political activist who also goes by the name Yasiin Bey. He was in the musical  group Urban Thermo Dynamics. He received a Grammy Award for his album The Ecstatic in 2010. With his wife Alana Wyatt, he has two children. In January 2012, it was reported that Mos Def and Talib Kweli had begun “to resurrect” Black Star. With a growing filmography, he has over 30 films to date and is currently filming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. –Joi Pearson @joiapearson
