Four buildings on the campus of Harvard University were evacuated after there were unconfirmed reports that bombs may have been placed there.

The Cambridge, Mass. institution was emailed a bomb threat, according to campus police, but none have been found so far.

An alert posted on the university’s website shortly after 9 a.m. local time Monday read “Unconfirmed reports of explosives at four sites on campus: Science Center, Thayer, Sever, and Emerson. Please evacuate those buildings now.”

“Harvard’s focus is on the safety of our students, faculty and staff,” the university’s police department said in a statement. Some of the departments are using bomb-sniffing dogs.

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security are joining the local and state police in investigating this matter.

Three of the buildings that were evacuated the border Harvard Yard area of the campus. Students were allowed to leave Harvard Yard but not enter unless they had school IDs, university officials said.

Police told the press they have no reason to believe there is a threat anywhere else on campus.

The Department of Homeland Security is also searching for explosives at the campus, but an official told Fox News that nothing has been found so far.

A White House official said President Obama has been briefed on the situation.

Stay tuned for any further developments.
