Marvin Gaye’s estate and Sony/ATV Publishing settle ‘Blurred Lines’ lawsuit

A part of the mess that is the Robin Thicke “Blurred Lines” vs. Marvin Gaye “Got To Give It Up” ordeal has been cleaned up and resolved…..but it’s far from over.

In case you missed any part of this saga, allow me to recap very quickly for you:

Robin Thicke releases monster song “Blurred Lines”. Said song has striking similiarties to Marvin Gaye’s classic “Got To Give It Up”. The Gaye estate sues Thicke. Thicke countersues the Gaye estate. Gaye estate then sues Sony/ATV publishing because the powerhouse song publisher actually represents both parties and the Gaye estate felt as though Sony/ATV were being far from impartial and siding with Thicke on the matter. Lots and lots of back and forth and….there. You are now officially up to speed.

Terms of the settlement between the Gaye estate and Sony/ATV were not publicly released. The litigation between Robin Thicke and the Gaye estate is still ongoing.
