NAACP North Carolina prez calls black Sen.Tim Scott GOP puppet

Tim Scott is one of only two black US Senators; the other is former NJ mayor Corey Booker. Scott has shown himself unsupportive of black issues instead following the Tea Party Agenda.  The Senator has called for the impeachment of Obama, repealing of Obama care (ACA), opposes a pathway to citizenship and is against the ban on assault weapons among other issues.  It is no wonder that Reverend William Barber II, the president of North Carolina’s NAACP said of Scott:

“The extreme right wing down here …finds a black guy to be senator and claims he’s the first black senator since Reconstruction and then he goes to Washington, D.C., and articulates the agenda of the Tea Party.”

Further calling Scott a puppet for the Republican Party at a MLK Holiday event and saying a “ventriloquist can always find a good dummy.”  The political climate in the US promises to become more extreme and heated as major 2014 elections get closer. Candidates are starting to state their positions , such as Joshua Black who called for the lynching of Obama on the King Holiday and Congressman Alan Grayson comparing the Tea Party to the Ku Klux Klan.  Scott was appointed by SC Gov. Nikki Haley to replace Jim DeMint who now heads the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation.  Scott is the first black senator elected from the Deep South since the end of the Civil War. He has been snubbed by Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus because of his Tea Party and anti-Obama stance.
