1.) Chronic clinical depression
There is sadness and then there is depression. Serious depression includes loss of interest, difference in sleep patterns and feelings of hopelessness.
2.) Having a so-called ‘death-wish’
Suicidal individuals may tempt fate by engaging in activities that significantly raise their risk of severe bodily injury or death.
3.) Putting affairs in order
Those considering taking their own life may call themselves “tying up loose ends” by changing their will and making sure their affairs will be in order.
4.) Sudden mood swings
The suicidal person may do a 360 from appearing depressed to buoyant and happy. They may also make unannounced visits to family and friends as a means of saying goodbye.
5.) Verbalizing suicidal thoughts
Someone considering suicide may think they’re hiding their negative thoughts but may flippantly make comments. The suicidal can say things like “I’m tired of this,” “I want this to be over.”
