Likable reality stars
In recent weeks there have been at least two blowups between black reality stars that are damaging viewers’ opinions of their popular shows. On the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” a NeNe Leakes-facilitated pajama party turned into melee when Apollo Nida blackened the eye and cracked the ribs of Kenya Moore’s friend, Brandon DeShay.
Following that a brawl broke out at a taping of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” involving Karlie Redd, a new cast member, Erica Dixon and Benzino. A bottle was thrown and fans and reality stars alike tussled with members of security. In the end a woman was left with bloody gash and a business establishment was riddled with broken glass.
For some the ongoing violence perpetuated in reality television is not only growing old but increasingly more acrid; Wendy Williams recently noted that she will no longer support “RHOA” and Atlantans who witnessed the “Love & Hip Hop” debauchery said they were disgusted.
So while reality television continues to flood TV screens with unlikable and sleazy characters who desperately resort to extreme measures to grasp at relevancy, we’ve ticked off a list of reality stars who seem to have a bit more substance, for now at least.
