Big Boi’s divorce from his longtime wife, Sherlita Patton, certainly came out of the blue last year. But what’s not so surprising is that, like many other celebrity couples, their divorce has taken a turn for the worse as Big Boi is refusing to shell out enormous checks for child support.
Sherlita filed for divorce last year and asked for full custody of the younger of their two kids, son Cross. But according to TMZ, Big Boi recently filed a response and is challenging Sherlita’s request, saying that it would be better for their family if they shared joint physical and legal custody.
Big Boi also addressed the issue of child support, saying that he would be no more and no less than the court deems appropriate for him to pay. Big Boi reasons that the monthly child support shouldn’t be too high because Sherlita is young, healthy, and well-educated, and can get a job to support herself.
We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out, but hopefully, their court battle doesn’t get any worse.
