Many people have now discerned that the dividends paid out from controversy, depravity and “ratchetness” are worth the publicity that comes from it. And Nigerian pop singer Dencia is riding the wave that the skin-bleaching cream “Whitenicious” is bringing her. She’s become sort of a circus-act phenomenon both in Africa and in the United States where many, including Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, have criticized her and her skin lightening product.

Dencia has already been interviewed by Ebony magazine and other publications regarding the Whitenicious skin-bleaching cream that is reportedly all the rage in urban America. Right now we’re getting word that she will be interviewed in Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network for a new documentary, “Light Girls.”

The documentary is inspired by a film by Bill Duke that also ran on the OWN Network titled “Dark Girls.”

When I interviewed the legendary actor, producer and director Duke prior to the completion of “Dark Girls,” he intimated to me that he and his partner were already working on a companion piece called “Light Girls.”

Therefore, it would make perfect sense that Dencia and her “Whitenicious” skin-lightening cream would be a major subject in the new documentary.
