There’s breaking news overnight in the Kendrick Johnson case. An unidentified student confessed in an email in January 2014 that he killed Kendrick Johnson. The anonymous e-mail tip is dated Jan. 27. The sender of the email does not suggest he or she personally witnessed a confession. However, the sender claims to have received information from a person who was aware of a confession made by someone implicated in the email regarding the case.
Authorities are trying to get the email records of Mediacom to find out the person’s identity. Chief Assistant District Attorney Bradfield Shealy sent a subpoena to the offices of Mediacom in New York requesting the electronic records on Feb. 7, 2014. A Mediacom spokesman stated that they would comply with the request but have not received any subpoena as of Wednesday.
