Frozen becomes the top grossing animated film of all time
Disney’s animated film, Frozen, has become wildly successful across international markets and now it’s the biggest animated picture ever. With total sales ringing in at $1.072 billion, Frozen eliminated it’s competition, Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3, which grossed $1.063 billion in 2010.
Since it’s theatrical debut on November 27, 2013, Frozen has earned $398.4 million domestically and $674 million internationally.
To top it off, the animated fantasy film broke into the top ten films of all time globally, when it took over 27 territories overseas and grossed $50.5 million in Japan alone. Not too shabby for a film that has only been released for less than six months.
The Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee directed movie, featuring 16 original songs and voice-overs courtesy of Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Kristen Bell, Santino Fontana, Josh Gad and more, is further proof that the voice-over business is extremely lucrative.
While many actors thrive to be captured on film physically, lending their voice to an animated feature may be more beneficial; not only to their career, but pockets as well, as we move into an age of hugely successful animated films worldwide. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
