Everybody wants a shot at immortality. Everybody wants to make the world a better place, i.e., cure cancer, save lives, solve humanity’s intractable ills — well most people do, anyway. Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp), is a dying scientist who uploads his brain to a computer before the grim reaper claims him with just those thoughts in mind, that he will be able to continue the work that will make the world a far better place. Unfortunately for mankind, and the woman who loves him, the good doctor does not evolve with his altruistic sensibility intact. –p.d. lee
