Do you have any music on which you are working?
I’ve gotta record called “Everything is Corrupt.” It’s hard-core, sign of the times and fun, and hip-hop and b-boy; and I got lyrics, you know all that stuff … you know I still mix it up. I’m having more fun doing music now than ever because I am not a slave to program directors and A&R’s and people with expectations. It’s really about doing what I feel and being very, very satisfied with the outcome.
Right; and not having to tap dance?
Yeah, be a true artist and not a person who does not have to worry about [paying] the advance money back.
How gratifying is it to see your career go from hustling to get the advance money back, to now you being able to call your own shots?
I feel very fortunate and blessed, but I do not dwell on it too much because I look at all the work that I have to do ahead of me. To me, ain’t nothing changed but the date, and I still stay hungry and hustle to make sure that my voice is heard.
