Rush Limbaugh and Don Lemon are some of the news world’s most outspoken stars, and those fiery tongues led to a feud between the two this week in which Limbaugh slammed CNN’s Lemon for being gay.
The drama all began after Limbaugh tried to link Donald Sterling and his racist comments to President Barack Obama, saying Sterling is only “in trouble right now [because] he did not give enough money to Obama.”
Once Lemon got wind of Limbaugh’s comments, he shot a few verbal darts of his own in Limbaugh’s direction.
“If we didn’t know then that Rush Limbaugh is a stunt king, then we know now,” Lemon told colleague Erin Burnett and guest Durrell “Tank” Babbs in video posted by Media Matters.
Not surprisingly, Limbaugh went on the defensive and fired back at Lemon, slamming him for being attracted to men.
“Well, over at CNN, they interpreted that to mean that I was defending Sterling!” he said on Tuesday. “How did they get there? I don’t know how they get there. Erin Burnett played the sound bite and then went to Mr. Black Hole himself, Don Lemon — who sleeps with men, proudly — for comment.”
Well, we’re not sure why Limbaugh thinks it’s an insult to point out just how gay an openly gay man is, but it’s clear that he’s willing to at least try to hit below the belt when backed into a corner. But then again, what’s new about that? –nicholas robinson
