Jonathan Mannion Collection x Akoo

Yesterday, renowned celebrity photographer Jonathan Mannion, famously known for his iconic portraits turned album covers, released an exclusive “street chic” capsule collection with Akoo Clothing Co. Various shots captured by Mannion have been included on t-shirts and tanks, just in time for summer as everyone refreshes their wardrobe.

Mannion, has shot the likes of hip-hop heavyweights such as T.I., Eminem, Jay Z, DMX, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross and Hollywood royalty David Beckham, Tyra Banks, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and Lance Armstrong to name a few.

The concept for this capsule collection was born, ironically enough, from a photo that hung in the Akoo design studio for over a year. This visual inspiration led Ralph Reynolds, founder and co-owner of Akoo and it’s parent company RP55 Group, to Mannion, whom he already knew from a past shoot with T.I. Reynolds reached out to Mannion he recalls, “I called and he was stranded in the studio answering and using the office phone because of Hurricane Sandy; it had just hit! For the first time really talking, we ended up sharing a few things with each other, probably because of the Hurricane. We talked about using the photo hanging in our design studio and thought, why use one photo when we can do a full delivery collaboration!”

Vice president of Marketing at RP55 Group/Akoo Clothing Co., Sabai Burnett, says, “We’re very excited about this groundbreaking collaboration with Jonathan Mannion and being able to share his work with the world via this collection. This is one of many projects we have coming up for 2014 that will prove the Akoo Clothing Co., stands to be a force to be reckoned with in men’s contemporary urban apparel.”
