Porsha Williams been both chastised and praised for her recent fight with Kenya Moore during the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion. And although Williams, and many of her cast mates, have claimed that Moore was the aggressor in the attack, Williams recently told Us Weekly that she apologizes for the fight.
While speaking with the magazine about the aftermath of the fight, Williams expounded on her recent revelations that she was bullied as a youngster and abused in her marriage to Kordell Stewart. Williams explains that Moore’s bullying during taping of “RHOA” brought up memories of her painful past of abuse.
“I suffered severe bullying since I was a child, to the extent of contemplating suicide and was also physically and mentally abused in my marriage,” Williams said. “Throughout the season on ‘Real Housewives’ I was manipulated and bullied and at the reunion taping when emotions were heightened. I was pushed too far with objects waved in my face and my personal space was continuously violated, and I reacted in a way which I am not proud of.”
As most fans noted, after Williams’ violent outburst, she immediately began sobbing as she shouted that she had “embarrassed” herself. Williams echoes that sentiment again, offering up an apology to both fans and cast mates alike.
“Violence is not the answer and I want to apologize to my fans, the viewers and the other ladies for my behavior,” Williams said. “For the thousands of supporters that have stuck by me I thank you immensely and encourage you to donate to shelters for abused woman and support charities that stop bullying.”
It’s admirable of Williams to offer such a broad apology, but we’re sure Moore took note of the fact that there was no direct apology sent her way. Regardless, it certainly bodes well for Williams’ future on “RHOA” that she be publicly apologetic, and if the outcome is that she actively does work to fight against violence, especially among black women, then that’s all the better. –nicholas robinson
