Chicago’s next generation of movers and shakers were in attendance at the home of David and Nadia Rawlinson to learn more about how to get involved in the Chicago Sinfonietta. Members of the ball committee, including Elena Britton, marketing consultant, civic leader, and civic chair for the ball; and Sinfonietta maestro Mei-Ann Chen, were on hand to interact with guests who were both familiar with the organization as well as newbies who were eager to get involved in supporting the orchestra.

Nicknamed the city’s hippest orchestra, the Sinfonietta is known in philanthropic circles as celebrating a commitment to being a model for diversity and innovation in classical music, and the upcoming 2014 ball is considered the hottest ticket in town on Chicago’s social scene. The ball takes place Saturday, May 31 at the Fairmont Hotel, and organizers hope to raise close to a half-million dollars to support concert performances, and education programs serving young adults and emerging professionals in underserved communities throughout the city and surrounding suburbs. Guests at the ball preview event held Tuesday, May 5 were treated to a performance by one of the Sinfonietta’s young virtuosos who has benefited greatly from the organization’s programs. Tickets for the upcoming ball can be purchased at www.chicagosinfonietta.org/2014ball.
