Godzilla
Stars: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe
America had King Kong. Japan had Godzilla. And despite the horribly dubbed Godzilla flicks of yesteryear, the sea monster has been a bona fide star for decades. This vociferous Japanese monster doesn’t need co-stars, but he gets them, big time: Bryan Cranston, “Breaking Bad”; and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kick-Ass, but with all the destruction, CGI effects and humongous monster filling the screen in 3-D, the strudio could have saved a bundle and cast unknowns. After all, people don’t go to monster films to see the actors; they go to see just how badass the monster is. –p.d. lee
