Dr. Scott spent the first half of his professional life working in the medical and tax fields, but for the second half of his career he is switching gears and doing something he has always wanted to do — follow his passion. And that passion is entertainment and technology.
Talk about the concept of One Stop.
One Stop is an off-shoot of my passion. I am not a musician. I can’t sing. I don’t play any instruments. I don’t do video or photography. I am not a web designer, but I want to accommodate people who are. I ran a tax accounting business for 25 years and turned it over to my son and daughter to run. Now, I am doing what is my passion.
I knew what I wanted and the concept I wanted to do. I just needed to find people who could fit in to make it work. That has been my search and continues to be my search, looking for a few good artists to make this thing work and really pop! Some of the artists I’ve worked with are Charlie Hosch, Ron Prince, Rob Juice, Taylor Moore, and several gospel artists. We are trying to do some innovative things to make it happen.
When did you decide this particular moment was right to follow your passion?
I don’t know if there was a particular turning point. Just time; time and an opportunity presented itself.
How did you to find this space?
When I found this space it had been vacant for two years. They were holding it for me. They couldn’t rent it to anybody. Most of the stuff was already done. This was a production house before I got it. I only had to make some minor changes.
How do people who might be interested get involved?
We have a membership program. Being a member gives you access to all the facilities. In entertainment, perception is more than half the battle. Instead of an artist saying, ‘I’ll meet you at Panera Bread,’ they can say, ‘I can meet you at my West Loop studio’ where they can show they have something going on.
