He was arrested on May 1 and has been unable to to post a $1 million cash bail. Facing life in prison, he’s charged with more than 600 counts of conspiracy, possession and drug-delivery. Also charged are his son, Francisco Lemus; nephew, Mario Hernandez-Garcia; and his wife, Jovita Lemus.
Their drugs were sourced in the Guanajuato region of Mexico and trafficked to drug hubs in Houston, Phoenix, Chicago and Charlotte, North Carolina. They were distributed on the streets from Baltimore to Philadelphia to Cumberland County, New Jersey.
It took authorities some time to really infiltrate Lemus’ ring because the ring was ruthless. “These are groups that kill cops, kill prosecutors, kill judges and don’t think twice about killing civilians,” Thomas Hogan, district attorney in Chester County, Pennsylvania, tells the media.
Confidential informants, nicknamed snitches, cooperated with authorities to build the case against Lemus. The dealers worked blue-collar jobs during the day in mushroom houses, on landscaping jobs, in auto repair shops, and so forth, and sold drugs at night.
