Slowly but surely all the pieces are beginning to fall into place regarding the upcoming N.W.A biopic.

Thus far, we have the renowned director F. Gary Gray (Friday, Set It Off, The Italian Job) on board to helm the film. Actor-comedian Capone is locked in to play Suge Knight, and now according to The Wrap, Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., will be portraying his dad.

Ice Cube, who is one of the film’s producers, stated previously that he thought his son was capable of the task, but that the decision wouldn’t be his alone and that he’d have to win the role. After a number of actors and rappers tried out for the role, the executives at Universal decided to go with the junior Jackson.

In addition to Ice Cube, fellow N.W.A alumni Dr. Dre and Tomica Woods-Wright, Eazy-E’s widow, have signed on as producers as well.

No date for the movie’s release has been given.
