Chelsea Handler to host late-night talk show on Netflix
It’s no secret that Chelsea Handler has been looking for a new home network for quite some time now. In March, Handler appeared on the Howard Stern show, where she expressed her frustrations with E!, saying that the network is a “sad, sad place to live.”
But according to Netflix, their latest announcement is going to drastically change all of that. After eight seasons of filming “Chelsea Lately,” the funny girl says goodbye to E! to launch the first ever late-night talk show on the subscription streaming video service.
“The Internet has disrupted many of the conventions of traditional television and together with Chelsea Handler, Netflix is looking forward to reimagining the late night talk show for the on-demand generation, starting with the late-night part …” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos in a statement.
And from the looks of it, Handler is happy to be on board…
“I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move. I’m more excited than I’ve been in awhile, and the team at Netflix is the most forward-thinking, alert group I’ve sat down with in ages. No offense to the Shahs Of Sunset,” Handler said in a statement of her own.
Prior to the debut of Handler’s Netflix talk show in early 2016, audiences can anticipate a hour-long stand-up special based on her best-selling book and sold-out tour, “Uganda Be Kidding Me” set to premiere exclusively on Netflix, on October 10 and four docu-comedy specials arriving in 2015.
Sounds interesting!
