An upcoming biopic with Aaliyah will delve into her alleged affair with R. Kelly. According to a report by the New York Post, the film will reveal details of their relationship.
R. Kelly discovered Aaliyah in the early ’90s and produced her debut album, Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number. It was alleged that they married in 1994 when Aaliyah was 15 and R. Kelly was 27. But the two later severed business and personal ties.
Aaliyah eventually left Jive Records and began working with Timbaland and Missy Elliot while with Atlantic Records. Several years later, R. Kelly was accused of making a sex tape with a girl who was only 14 years old. He was acquitted on all 14 charges.
The Aaliyah biopic will star Zendaya Coleman and is based on a biography written by Christopher John Farley.
