Luis Suárez of the Uruguay soccer team has been punished for his recent on-field behavior. Earlier this week during the Uruguay vs. Italy World Cup soccer match, Suárez bit Italian player Giorgio Chiellini. The event is now being called “the bite seen around the world,” since everyone watching the game witnessed the event.

Now the FIFA has handed down its punishment against Suárez; he is out of the World Cup. The governing body of the soccer organization FIFA has been suspended for nine games and banned from the sport for four months. Claudio Sulser, chair of the disciplinary committee, said in a statement, “Such behavior cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular, not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field.”

In addition Suárez has been banned from any soccer related activity and is not even allowed back into the stadium for the rest of the matches.
