While many of her teenage fans are inspired by her style, Zendaya insists that fashion can be achieved on a budget.
“There are tons of ways to make less expensive things look expensive and I think it’s about finding the right pieces. I like mixing high-end things with inexpensive things. However, money does not make you look expensive, it’s taste,” she says.
Zendaya’s taste in fashion, music, TV and film is evident when considering the projects that she has aligned herself with at an early age. The film “Zapped,” an appearance on “Dancing With the Stars,” the hit song “Replay” and the upcoming “Aaliyah” biopic are only fragments of what she has to offer as an artist. Trust that Zendaya is on the verge of a takeover.
In a decade, or sooner, she could be one of the biggest talents in the nation. She possesses a fashion-forward sensibility that’s comparable to Rihanna’s; she’s working on developing a stage presence that is as powerful as Beyoncé’s; and she could one day stun Hollywood in the manner of Lupita Nyong’o. At this moment, her potential is boundless.
“In 10 years, I want to be at a place in my career where I am able to use the power that I have for good,” Zendaya says. “I want to be able to be that Beyoncé figure or Michael Jackson figure that is able to use their art form for good things and influence in good ways. If you have that much power, it’s for a reason. You have it to inspire others, you have it to give messages to people, [and] you have it to connect people [from different cultures]. That’s what I want to do. I want to be that voice for young people.”
