Kanye West’s latest onstage rant didn’t go over so well. The rapper headlined the Wireless Festival in London this weekend, replacing the ailing Drake on the schedule, and he seems to have rubbed the audience the wrong way. Wearing his now-trademark bejeweled mask during the opening portion of his set, Yeezy ranted, as usual, about being persecuted.
“The first thing they do is crush you… They control you with lies,” he sang repeatedly–then he began his rant.
“How many people have had people tell you that you aren’t f**kin’ awesome?” West asked the audience, who reportedly responded with boos. He acknowledged the bad vibes, but kept ranting. “This is what I’m talking about…. They say, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with Kanye’ and make it sound like I’m a bad person in some way. What have I ever done that was so wrong other than believe in myself?”
“I’m not going to mention any names but… Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don’t discriminate against me because I’m a black man making music,” he added later. “F**k saving face and what it’s supposed to mean, it’s about living my dream.”
Kanye’s performance eventually resumed, and he even won the crowd’s favor when he began performing a few older hits. But then, Ye blasted the cameraman during his show. West screamed for the side screens to be turned off during his performance of “Touch the Sky” and went off because he didn’t like the angle being shown on-screen.
He shouted: “Only use this one. That looks good!”
