Kendrick Lamar served as the headlining act of the 2014 Pitchfork Music Festival. A capacity crowd at Union Park in Chicago got a chance to witness rap’s current king prove why he’s at the top of his game.
With a live band and video images of South Central L.A. behind him on a jumbo screen, the Compton native performed his Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City album in its entirety.
Lamar opened with “Money Trees” before going into the boisterous “Backpack Freestyle.” He then performed “Good Kid” and his remix verse for the hit single “B—, Don’t Kill My Vibe.”
The urgency of “M.A.A.D. City” created a desired frenzy as festivalgoers jumped and screamed, “Seems like the whole city goes against me, every time I’m in the streets I hear …”
Lamar slowed things down with “Sing About Me” and “Poetic Justice.” He ended his set with “A.D.H.D.” — a track from his prelude to GKMC, Section.80.
Rolling out was on hand to capture every moment. Here are the 15 best images of Kendrick Lamar at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
