Kelly Price (My Block)

Traffic was unusually thick for an early Thursday evening in Berwyn, IL. Police officers redirected traffic with a face of bewilderment – seemingly not prepared for the frenzy of excitement that literally entrapped west Roosevelt Road. The Black McDonald’s Operators Association, known to most as the (BMOA), brought their now famed Block Party to town, and with Kelly Price as the featured artist, hundreds of people formed a line more than a city block looking to celebrate a night out with one of our country’s most soulful R&B singers. Though she’s New York born and bred, Kelly Price's early collaborations with R. Kelly have made her of one of the city’s unofficial daughters of R&B. WGCI’s DJ Phantom used the early part of the night to bring the crowd to a boil, and when Kelly Price took the stage…the love and enthusiasm spilled over into every corner of the venue.
