Fantasia Barrino’s soulful Detroit performance

Fantasia and George Tandy Jr. 2014 092

On Friday, August 1, 2014, Grammy Award winning R&B singer and songwriter Fantasia Barrino had a soulful performance in Detroit, MI at Chene Park. Dressed in a skin-tight, white, one-piece jumpsuit with a silver bedazzled body chain draping over her arms and chest, the soulful songstress performed barefoot as she typically does for the city of Detroit with a full on live band.

Opening up for the beautiful Fantasia were R&B diva Leela James and rising R&B singer and songwriter George Tandy Jr. who performed his hit single “March” along with a few other very rhythmic singles from his new album titled “The Foundation.”

Fantasia was well received by her Detroit fans as she nearly performed her entire set at the edge of the stage smiling for photos and talking with fans in between songs. Her high-energy performance consisted of her fan favorites including “When I See You”, “Collard Greens and Cornbread” and her latest singles from her new album Side Effects of You, “Lose to Win” and “Without Me.”

Before the end of her set, a very emotional Fantasia serenaded the souls of Detroit with the classic inspirational song by the legendary Sam Cooke, “Change is Gonna Come.”
