New video has emerged of white police officers killing a black man in St. Louis. On Tuesday, Kajieme Powell took donuts and energy drinks from a store. The store’s clerk claimed that Powell had a knife during the incident.

But moments after Powell took the items, a pedestrian began filming the incident with his cellphone. Powell laid the items on the ground and paced back and forth as if he was on medication or suffered from mental illness.

When police arrived, Powell began yelling, “Shoot me!” Powell didn’t have a gun, but police later claimed that he had a knife. Before the video was released, police also claimed that Powell charged at them with the knife. However, the video shows that Powell’s hands were at his side and he never charged at police.

The two officers shot at Powell at least eight times. He hit the ground and was unconscious. The person filming said that Powell was dead. Although Powell was unconscious or deceased, the two police officers still placed handcuffs on his wrists.

For the second time in less than two weeks, a black man in Missouri has been killed by police after committing a minor crime. Powell was shot four miles away from where Michael Brown was killed by Officer Darren Wilson.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson defended the actions of the police officers who killed Powell.

In the video, angry residents suggested that Powell was never a threat and could have been subdued in a less violent manner.
