If Ferguson has done one thing, it has shown the world what black people in America have known for what seems like forever — a lot of police are just as much a danger to us as they are protectors. I don’t say all, because I know some good police officers.
Yes, they do exist.
Officers that, despite the department’s policies, treat the people in the communities they serve with care and respect. They literally serve and protect.
There are still others that literally detect and kill … and injure … on the regular … especially if you’re Black.
Don’t believe me? Check out the video. A joyous occasion for a Chicago South Side community — the signing of a local rap group to a major record deal — turns violent. Not because of the actions taken by the people on the block, but because of the actions of the blue and white …otherwise known as the Chicago Police Department.

You’ll see a mother slammed on the hood of the car. A young black man sucker punched by a cop. And an entire community standing strong, peacefully recording the goings on, vowing to not simply let this pass.
What’s the cause?
Unless you call a mother sipping on an icie, standing next to a son holding an unopened bottle of Remy, in front of their house, on their block, with their neighbors, celebrating some of their young people ‘done’ good … unless you call that cause … there is none. Just more Black folk doing something that it seems some don’t want them to do…
