With the introduction of a new Apple product, tech-geeks and nerds line up in front of stores like they are waiting on a new pair of Jordans. It will probably be the same for Apple’s latest products, the new iPhone 6, iPhone 6Plus and the cutting edge Apple Watch. Both new gadgets and a new App called Apple Pay combine technology and lifestyle that brings the owner into a new digital age.
The new iPhone 6 has a slightly larger screen size than the older iPhone 5s at 4.7 inches; the iPhone 6Plus offers a 5.5-inch screen. Both new entries into the iPhone scene are slightly larger than the new Samsung Galaxy S5 and bring us into the new realm of the “phablet,” a phone that functions as a tablet computer. Both phones are also thinner than older versions of the iPhone in the past. Apple has also included a new camera upgrade that will allow higher resolution pictures. In addition, the new software for the phone greatly increases the functionality of the device. It will have dedicated cut and paste buttons as well as proprietary applications that will take advantage of the phone’s larger screen. One of the most exciting options on the new phone is the Apple Pay feature. This feature allows your phone to be a digital credit card that will increase the purchase and buy options for its user. Simply swiping your phone and using the NFC feature, an iPhone owner can pay for purchases.
However, the most anticipated product was the introduction of the Apple Watch. This watch works only with the Apple iPhone and both products must be paired togther. The Apple Watch will not be available until early 2015 and will initially be priced around $349 for a basic model. There will be three collections for the Apple watch; one for fitness lovers, a sports watch, and a fashionable 18K gold edition. All watches will have a wide selection of interchangeable wristbands for those who may like to coordinate fashion and technology.
The price of these new iPhones and Apple Watches will start, including service plans, at around $1,000 for both items. Therefore, investments in these products are also a statement about the person’s wealth, social status and the choice of digital lifestyle.
