Gotham City. It’s the city where dreamers come to discover just what they’re made of. And for our Creative Traveler Series, it was the only logical place to begin our four-city journey. On so many levels it just made sense: our host, Bianca Golden, is from New York; one of Amtrak’s most historic hubs – Penn Station – is located there; and quite frankly, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’, “Empire State of Mind” may very well go down in history as one of the world’s greatest city anthems. So New York was the proper call.
What was also proper was the mode of transportation, as Golden arrived on the sleek Northeast Regional train, one of Amtrak’s finest. This top model has always known how to travel, and Amtrak was her top choice to arrive into the heart of NYC so that she could hop right into a fun-filled day of creative travel.
Our first stop was Times Square, because as Golden put it, “How could you come to New York and not visit Times Square?” She had a point, so we stopped by the iconic destination and saw everything, from couples getting married to naked cowboys and cowgirls singing. The whole scene was just what you would have expected – vendors, tourists, bright lights, and nothing but endless amounts of energy.
