The NFL could be having the worst first week in the history of the league. The Ray Rice/Roger Goodall debacle, and the uncovering of the history of domestic violence has plagued the league.
Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings has become the latest NFL star to have off the field issues. According to MyFox Houston, Peterson was indicted in Montgomery County, Texas for Injury to a Child.
Peterson’s son pushed another one of his sons off a motorbike video game. To punish his son, Peterson says he used a switch from a branch when the injuries occurred. The child’s mother took the boy to the doctor and reported the incident.
In a statement, Peterson revealed that he never meant to harm his child and used the same level of discipline given to him as a child. It’s not uncommon for black families to use switches from a tree branch to spank children who disobey rules.
However, when bruises are visible, a red flag for abuse can occur. A warrant for Peterson’s arrest has been issued and he will not play Sunday.
