- Get vaccinated.
- Wash your hands frequently, preferably in warm water for 15 to 20 seconds. Lather by rubbing hands together. Rinse thoroughly and use paper towels or a dryer to dry hand and use a paper towel, when available) to turn off the faucet.
- Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze, preferably with a tissue or your shirt sleeve.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- If you’re sick or have a fever, stay home for 24 hours until it’s gone and limit contact with others.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- See a doctor as soon as the flu symptom arise. Treatment with an anti-viral medication can shorten the duration of the illness and decrease flu-related complications.
